La Société Culturelle régionale Les Chutes presents: Mrs. Brûlé (Play)

Ms. Brûlé is a teacher who clings to her calling against all odds. In a show that blends theatre, clowning, and improvisation, actress Évelyne Laniel delivers a solo performance that is both humorous and satirical.

Called in for a last-minute substitute teaching position, Ms. Brûlé is euphoric at the prospect of landing her first teaching contract. However, her enthusiasm quickly turns to panic when she realizes she is the fourth substitute teacher of the year. Her arrival in the classroom also coincides with the annual parent-teacher meeting, where she is supposed to hand out report cards that are… nowhere to be found.

In a series of physical comedy numbers, interweaving slapstick and object theatre, the spectator, who sometimes takes on the role of the student, sometimes that of the parent, witnesses the descent into hell of a teacher who nevertheless clings to a single hope, her vocation: to change the world one child at a time.
